Enterprise Competitions & Awards

Propeller supports several pre- and post- start-up competitions and awards, as well as running our own. Our mentors are on hand to help you with your application and provide pitch practice.  Some of the awards and competitions with which we can help are below.

The Propeller Enterprise Award

Propeller offer our own award for innovative start-ups, whether that be a business project or voluntary group. We are looking for entrants who display sound business planning and measure each idea on its own merit, rather than in competition with others. Each award varies, but can reach £1,000.

The Propeller Enterprise Award is closed at present. Whilst you wait for it to re-open you can Check your eligibility.

University Entrepreneur’s Grant – Educate North Awards

The Educate North Awards celebrate best practice and excellence in the education sector across the North of England.

As part of that, The University Entrepreneur’s Grant is a special category, with the winner being decided by the audience at the awards ceremony. Each shortlisted applicant presents a 3-minute pitch and the winner receives a £1,000 cash prize to develop their business plan. In addition, they also receive access to a mentor, and gain a helpful publicity boost with a professional promotional film.

The NatWest Pre-Accelerator

In 2020, we worked alongside Lancaster University to bring the NatWest Pre-Accelerator course to Lancashire.
A pre-accelerator seeks to prepare you and your idea/business, or at least determine the viability of your idea. These are typically competitive to access, and very intensive to undertake. Funders and investors often look at these accelerators to spot promising talent, ideas and businesses.
