The second in a series of three workshops which explore both explicit and tacit (‘know –how’) approaches to strategy, especially implementation; operations management which has been to some extent ignored within business incubation support and LEAN, particularly with regard to addressing some of the difficulties encountered in practice.
The workshops should be of interest to UCLan staff, students or alumni who are considering a business start – up, those in the early stages of trading or small firms experiencing rapid growth who may benefit from experiential perspectives.
OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT – THE FORGOTTEN ART?
Operations management is often perceived as the poor relation in business activity and yet by not implementing good practice in product or service delivery, a business can often fail at the first hurdle.
This workshop aims to provide participants with an understanding of:
- the role of operations management within the context of the total business
- the way in which operations interacts and interfaces with other business functions
